ENIEC is excited to remind you of the book “Dementia among Older Adults with a Migration Background in Belgium” by ENIEC-members Saloua Berdai Chaouni and Ann Claeys—a groundbreaking work that distills five years of research on dementia care for older migrants in Belgium.
For the first time, this book examines dementia from three distinct perspectives:
- Older migrant adults (specifically from Moroccan, Turkish, and Italian backgrounds),
 - Their caregivers,
 - Professional healthcare providers.

This evidence-based book highlights the lived experiences, care needs, and approaches employed by both informal caregivers and professionals to meet the needs of older adults with dementia. It delves into critical topics, from the migration history of these communities and their unique needs to the experience of dementia through their eyes and those of their caregivers.
Ultimately, this book provides recommendations to improve dementia care for older adults with a migration background. A must-read for caregivers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers, it encourages a much-needed conversation about innovative and responsive dementia care.
