Social design practice based in Rotterdam West, working in super-diverse neighbourhoods, particularly Delfshaven, where intercultural perspectives on ageing, care and wellbeing are central.

Social resident and initiator in Rotterdam, active in the social domain through communication, design, organisation and teaching. Her work revolves around visual arts and mental health, with a special emphasis on older adults and inclusive, community-based approaches to care.

What does ENIEC mean to you or your work?:
In the Rotterdam neighbourhoods where I work,  especially Delfshaven, more than 160 nationalities live together, creating a “world in miniature.” Here, we build our neighbourhoods collectively with over 60 informal welfare and community organisations. As a core team member of the Welzijnscoalitie Delfshaven, ENIEC represents an important international network where I can contribute my local expertise and exchange knowledge on healthy, inclusive and intercultural ageing in the city.

More about Sanne:
Sanne is a designer and project leader with a strong commitment to art, culture and neighbourhood-based initiatives. From her home neighbourhood Bospolder Tussendijken, she develops and leads projects that bring people together, such as the Waterweg Cultuur Prize, Team Toekomst, Welzijnscoalitie Delfshaven, BuurTalent and Sanne’s Art Club. In addition, she supports social and cultural organisations with PR, communication and design. Sanne holds a degree in Graphic Design, is trained as a teacher in visual arts and design, and completed a Master of Arts. She believes in the power of collaboration, creativity and intercultural care to make communities, and the world, a little more beautiful.
