More about Marjukka
I have a strong background in client-facing work, with experience in engaging diverse groups of people and fostering dialogue between them. Equality, inclusion, and ensuring that every voice is heard are at the core of how I work. I am open to new ideas and believe in continuous learning.
My earlier career was in customer service, where I worked in coordinating roles as a project and team leader, focusing on improving business processes and collaboration.
At 40, I made a conscious decision to reorient my path. I wanted to better understand where my strengths and motivation truly lie, which led me to the field of social work and, in particular, to working with older people, a group I have always felt a strong connection to. I completed my degree in Social Work in 2025.
During my studies, I gained practical experience working at Senior Info in the City of Espoo, conducting service needs assessments for older adults. This role gave me valuable insight into the complex and often multifaceted situations faced by older people and their families. I have also worked as a coordinator in a physical activity project at Jade, as well as a personal assistant for an elderly woman with Parkinson’s disease. In addition, I have been involved in volunteer work with older people for many years. Gaining a broad and hands-on understanding of this field has been important to me.
Through Jade, I was introduced to ENIEC. I attended my first Annual Meeting in Nijmegen, where, despite knowing only a few people, I immediately felt welcomed and part of the community.
I am currently based in Barcelona. I’m in a phase of international exploration, combining travel with a growing interest in cross-cultural connection and understanding.
