ENIEC Thursdays Jump Start in November

Written by Nikolett Arnaud

As you must have heard ENIEC Thursdays are our new informal meetings to be held online on every first Thursday of the month. They are events where one voluntary presenter gives a speech on self selected topic of their work,, or an issue that is interesting and could spark a discussion.

In the framework of this new idea, I had the opportunity to start with my presentation, actually for me, as I am not teaching, but only organizing and taking part in research at the university, this was the first Zoom-presentation. However, this time I did not present one of our university researches, but a more personal work. I don’t know how many of you know, but I started translating books about health-related issues in the past year. During the first wave of Covid19 I translated an Alzheimer’s care guide titled Alzheimer’s through the Stages: A Caregiver’s Guide, which is quite a good book with lots of positive messages for family members facing the disease.

We had a fruitful discussion about the book and the issues that it raised about the different perspectives of care in each participating country. It was also great to see and talk to ENIEC members, and have an informal chat afterward. I do hope that more and more people will join and become also familiar with the Zoom platform, as we will have our Online Annual Meeting of 2021 on Zoom.

Next up in December, you will get a chance to listen to Professor István Szilárd talk about New and Traditional Challenges for elderly migrants in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please, register on the following link to join the conversation on Thursday, 3 December 2020 at 7 PM CET.
