Marja Säikkä is nominated as the new ENIEC board member

Dear Eniec members,

The Eniec´s nomination committee is glad to present the two candidates for the two vacancies positions for the board, Elzbieta Czapka (Poland) and Marja Säikkä (Finland).

As informed in the newsletter of December 2022, during the ENIEC General Assembly in Gdansk on March 16, 2023 there will be elections for two board member positions for 2 years, the position of Elżbieta Czapka (Poland) and the position of Elisabeth de Vries (The Netherlands). To fulfil these two positions a call inviting members to present their nominations was sent in December 2023.

The nomination committee has received the candidature of Elzbieta Czapka (Poland) who has expressed her interest in being re-elected for a second term and continuing for another two years as board members. Unfortunately, Elisabeth de Vries has conveyed us that she cannot continue as a board member for professional reasons. To guarantee that at least there will be two nominees for fulfil the board positions, the nomination committee has approached several members.

It was important to us to guarantee a good geographical spread over the different countries where the ENIEC members come from. We also looked at which competencies are currently most needed in the phase our association is in and who is able and willing to implement them.

We are happy to inform that Marja Säikkä (Finland) has accepted our invitation to present her, candidature. She is a member of ENIEC since 2020 has extensive administrative experience in her city of Helsinki and is also strongly involved in ENIEC’s mission through her work.

As ENIEC’s nomination committee, we are happy to recommend Elżbieta Czapka (Poland) and Marja Säikkä (Finland) to be elected as a board members for a two-year term by the ENIEC members at the ENIEC General Assembly in Gdansk on March 15, 2023.

Nonetheless, for the sake of completeness and accuracy, any ENIEC member can present her/his candidature until Wednesday 14, 18h00, the day before the General Meeting of Members.

As the Nominating Committee, we would also like to express our gratitude to Elisabeth de Vries, our retiring Board Member, who has served as a Board Member for the past two years. Due to her busy schedule, Elisabeth has decided not to seek re-election. An important task, in addition to that of treasurer, which Elisabeth has taken on, is the necessary and desired changes within the articles of association of ENIEC. A complicated and time-consuming process, in which a lot of progress has been made. ENIEC owes her a great debt of gratitude for this.

If any member has any question about the board election and the nomination process, please do not hesitate to contact us

We look forward to seeing you in Gdanks!
