In February 2025, I had the joy of visiting fellow ENIEC members—a trip that turned out to be both inspiring and energizing. As our network brings together colleagues from diverse disciplines, I had the chance to engage in rich and thought-provoking conversations.
One conversation that stayed with me was a thoughtful brainstorming exchange with Nina Conkova, where I truly appreciated learning from her experience as a researcher. It was also a pleasure to meet new member Lara Fizaine. Another highlight was meeting Emete Solmaz, a medical doctor specialising in old age care. Our long discussions on the medical and social dimensions of ageing broadened my perspective in meaningful ways.
A particularly nostalgic stop was Pharos, exactly ten years after my first visit to Jennifer van der Broeke. I was happy to reconnect with Carolien Smits and Michael Echteld after our last meeting in Helsinki AM, and Warsha Jagroep, a new member. I got to hear about ongoing initiatives. And of course, meeting Jan Booij was an inspiration, especially as his journey makes me reflect on how to sustain volunteer enthusiasm.
I’m truly grateful to each of you for your time and generosity. This trip was not only filled with warmth and friendship, but also brought fresh insights that continue to inspire my work on ageing and care.
